Payment of child benefit outside the Netherlands
The Social Insurance Bank (SVB) pays the child benefit into your bank account after the end of each quarter. The first time you get child benefit depends on your child’s birth date.

Payment dates
Child benefit is paid in January, April, July and October. You can find the exact dates in My SVB (information in Dutch). You can log in using your DigiD or another EU-approved login key. If you do not have a DigiD username and password, find out how to apply for DigiD from abroad.
It might take a little longer until the money is in your account. This depends on the country where you live and on your bank.
Child benefit not always paid in euros
You will receive your child benefit in euros, except if you live in:
- Australia
- Canada
- Morocco
- New Zealand
- United Kingdom
- United States
- South Africa
In these countries you will receive payment in the local currency. The amount will vary each time due to the exchange rate.
My spouse and I are getting a divorce
After your divorce, the parent with whom the child lives will receive child benefit.
If you are co-parenting, you must reach agreement on how you want the child benefit to be divided between you. Lay this down in writing. If you have not laid down any agreement in writing about the division of child benefit, each parent will get half.
