Applying for a certificate of legal capacity to marry in Georgia
Are you a Dutch national living in Georgia and do you need a certificate of legal capacity to marry? The Dutch embassy in Tbilisi does not issue this certificate. You can apply for a certificate of legal capacity to marry with the local authorities in Georgia.
Attention: Are you a Dutch national and do you live in the Netherlands (or have lived in the Netherlands previously)? You can get a certificate of legal capacity to marry (verklaring van huwelijksbevoegdheid) from the Dutch municipality where you live or the last municipality you lived in before you left the Netherlands. Go to the website of the relevant municipality for more information.
How do I apply for the certificate?
Submit a written request in person to the Georgia Department of Justice:

- The Public Service City Hall will issue the certificate of legal capacity to marry in Georgian.
- At the time of your application, you can specify that you also would like to receive an English translation with apostille. You will have to pay extra for this.
