How can I continue to receive my benefit under the Work and Income (Capacity for Work) Act, Invalidity Insurance Act or Incapacity Insurance (Self-employed Persons) Act if I move abroad?
If you move abroad and want to continue receiving benefit under the Work and Income (Capacity for Work) Act (WIA benefit), Invalidity Insurance Act (WAO benefit) or Incapacity Insurance (Self-employed Persons) Act (WAZ benefit), in some cases you may be able to do so. Notify the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV) that you are moving abroad no later than 2 weeks before your departure.
Check whether you can continue receiving benefit abroad
It is not possible to continue to receive WIA, WAO or WAZ benefit in every country. Whether you can continue to receive any of these benefits abroad depends on the country you are moving to. The Netherlands has agreements about this with a number of countries.

Reporting a move to the UWV
Notify the UWV that you are moving using the online form. You must do this no later than 2 weeks before your departure to ensure the form can be processed on time. Fill in the following information on your form:
- the date of your move
- your new address abroad
- your new bank account number abroad, if this has changed.
You will need a recognised form of eID from another European country or a DigiD to log in.
Medical assessment before departure
After you have reported that you are moving, the UWV may contact you to plan a medical assessment. A doctor from the UWV will carry out the assessment sometime within the two weeks before your departure. If there appears to be any change in your medical situation, this could have an impact on the amount of benefit you receive.
