To marry in the Netherlands you must first give notice of your intention to marry. If you and your partner both live outside the Netherlands, you must give notice to the municipality of The Hague, even if you want to marry in a different municipality. Give notice of your intention to marry at least 8 weeks before your marriage date. Don’t wait too long to do this. If you don’t get married within 1 year of giving notice, you will have to start the process again.
First notify the municipality of The Hague that you wish to marry in the Netherlands. You can do this by completing the digital form. Print and sign the form. Your partner should also sign the form. Scan the form, your passport or identity card and your partner’s passport or identity card and upload these scans.
The municipality of The Hague will forward your notice to the Dutch municipality where you plan to marry. You will receive a message about this from the municipality of The Hague within 1 week.
