You can register to vote via the registration page (denhaag.nl) on the municipality of The Hague website.
If you live in another European Union (EU) member state, you have 2 options:
- Voting for a Dutch candidate. To do this, you must register to vote with the municipality of The Hague; or
- Voting for a candidate from the EU member state you live in. To do this, you must register to vote in your country of residence. You cannot vote for a Dutch candidate if you do this. EU member states share voter registration data to prevent people voting two times. If you are registered to vote in your country of residence, the municipality of The Hague will remove you from its register, to ensure you cannot vote for a Dutch candidate.
If you are registered as a Dutch voter abroad, you will automatically receive your postal vote certificate and ballot paper. You will need both to cast your vote.
If you haven’t received your voting documents, or have lost them, you can request new ones from the municipality of The Hague.

If you live outside the Netherlands, you can also vote by proxy. This means you authorise someone in the Netherlands to vote on your behalf. Or you can vote at a polling station in the Netherlands with a voter's pass. This is only possible if you are in the Netherlands on the day of the elections.
