There are 3 ways to become a Dutch citizen outside the Netherlands: by birth or acknowledgement, through the option procedure and through naturalisation.
If your mother or father is Dutch, you may automatically be Dutch by birth or the acknowledgement of parentage. Certain conditions apply.
If you do not automatically hold Dutch nationality through birth or acknowledgement of parentage, or if you have lost your Dutch nationality, you may be able to obtain Dutch nationality through the option procedure.
